Museum of Science and Industry

As part of the groundbreaking exhibition YOU!, which explores the human mind and body, Potion created four distinct interactive experiences in collaboration with the Museum of Science and Industry and Thinc Design.

100 Things To Do challenges visitors to set lifelong goals for themselves. Three virtual blackboards, constantly updating, greet visitors with an assortment of goals that are drafted by unseen hands. Visitors virtually drag goals they aspire to onto a giant notepad, ranging from learning to ride a bike all the way to climbing Mount Everest and becoming the President.

What’s In Your Blood? lets visitors of all ages explore a hyper-realistic blood stream as it travels to a physical model of the human heart, and introduces visitors to the idea that blood is not simply a uniform liquid, but a composite of many independent elements, each of which serve a different purpose in the body.

 

The Chemistry Between Us invites visitors to learn about the hormones related to feelings of love. As visitors reach into the space, one of the three hormone-filled hearts approaches the visitor’s hand and begins acting out its characteristic emotion through dance and speech bubbles. As visitors explore the relationships between hormones and feelings, they can also learn the steps of an intimate dance, hinting at experiences that younger visitors will encounter later in life.

 

Create an Ad allows visitors to create and watch their own commercials, teaching the tactics behind the business of advertising by giving visitors the creative hand. As budding account executives, visitors lead the creative process as they select scripts, soundtracks, and taglines, drag CDs, sort through pages, and even eat cookies and drink virtual coffee. The end result is a 30 second live-action commercial, viewed on the large overhead screen.
