Field Museum Tours

Field Museum of Natural History

Potion created a multi-platform app to provide visitors with a tool for navigating through The Field Museum's vast collection at their own pace.

The Field Museum dates back to the World’s Columbian Exposition held in Chicago in 1893, and over the last 100+ years, the Museum has remained dedicated to the pursuit of scientific knowledge—resulting in an amazing collection of 26 million artifacts and specimens.

Launched in conjunction with the “Wonders of the 1893 World’s Fair” exhibition, the Tours App offers a number of tours created by the Field Museum curatorial team, inviting visitors to follow individual routes around the Museum. As visitors explore the galleries and find objects, they can uncover additional content by scanning QR codes in the app, revealing videos, audio clips, extra imagery, and even 360º augmented reality panoramas. A map function serves as wayfinding and navigation through the vast halls of the Museum.

Recently, the Field Museum and Potion launched an update to incorporate a Scavenger Hunt, where visitors and school groups follow clues to discover objects throughout the Museum, and verify their guesses by scanning QR codes to reveal the correct answer.
