Using full-body interaction rarely achieved through screen-based installations, the Transportation Hallway features three human-scale “traffic lanes”—bicycle, car or bus—projected onto the floor. As visitors navigate each lane, their chosen mode of transport moves with them while pop-up signs describe that vehicle’s benefits and consequences to the environment.
Think Global introduces visitors to issues of global sustainability by allowing them to manipulate data visualizations relating to human impact. By touching one of eight large icons, each representing a layer of human impact, visitors can explore the consequences of small and large actions on our nation, population, agriculture, shipping paths, energy usage and oil pipelines.
Putting the power to re-design an average American town into the hands of museum visitors, Act Local allows visitors to take realistic steps toward making communities more livable and environmentally responsible.
